Does it really work with no cell signal at all?
Yes. Save an area before you leave — basemap, overlays, and 3D terrain all download to the device. GPS positioning, track recording, navigation, measuring, and every drawing tool run entirely on-device. Airplane mode is a supported workflow, not an edge case.
Is it a subscription?
Never. The core app is free and covers offline maps, GPS and tracks, drawing, measurement, coordinates and MGRS, per-view POIs, Team Sync, and basic export. ZYRN Pro is a single one-time $40 purchase that unlocks the power features — 3D terrain, unlimited offline downloads, true-scale PDF map sheets, viewshed and premium overlays, and the tactical bridges — across app, web, and desktop. Pay once, own it forever; nothing to renew. You can also try the web version in your browser first.
Do I need an account?
Not to use the app. The free app and every field tool work with no sign-up, no login, and no cloud profile — your data (maps, tracks, markers, gear lists) lives on your device, and Team Sync connects peer-to-peer or over your own LAN or mesh without our servers. An account is only needed to activate ZYRN Pro; once activated, your Pro license is verified on your device, so it keeps working offline.
Can I bring my data from Gaia GPS, CalTopo, or Garmin?
Yes. Import GPX, KML/KMZ, GeoJSON, and CSV directly. Exports work the same way, plus true-scale PDF map sheets with UTM/MGRS grids for printing. See the import/export docs for details.
What does it collect about me?
Nothing. No analytics, no telemetry, no ads, no tracking cookies. Location is used only in the foreground for features you invoke. Read the full privacy policy — it's short, because there isn't much to disclose.
Which platforms are supported?
Android (Google Play or sideloaded APK) and any modern browser as an installable PWA. Phones, tablets, and desktops are all supported, in both orientations.
